Kiss This! 7/7/08
So I was driving from Wichita to Kansas City this past weekend when I decided to make a short detour through emporia for gas and I also had to piss like Big Brown but anyway! Lol! So as I handled all of that and I hopped back into my car I was thinking hmm? It’s time for me to change cd’s I have road this Gnarles Barkley out so as I was on the turnpike trying to make a life decision on which cd to play? Amy Winehouse? NERD? Cold Play? Snoop? Or just go with Jay-Z? So as I pulled out Amy Winehouse out of my cd book my arm hit the FM button and I heard KISS THIS? What is this? And as I looked at my radio dial it said 103.1! OH SNAP THIS IS THAT RADIO STATION I USED TO WORK FOR? HMMM? INTERESTING! So let’s see what they been up to lately as I slide Amy back into the case. As I listened I was like aghhh? Nothing has really changed pretty much the same kinda rotation as you go from T Pain to Fergie to Fallout Boy… really no method to the madness. So as I drove for about 15 mins I was thinking SO??? Is anybody gonna talk! And to my avail the answer is NO??? Which was very disappointing? So basically it’s became a random Ipod with commercials in it? Which is a sad...SAD…thing! That radio station had a lot of potential and did great things in the city and for the people! Even though it could of did A WHOLE LOT MORE!! It was just sad to see something that could have been SO MAJOR! Just become a non irrelevant ? There were a lot of bright and energetic people working at the station. And with our brain power the sky was the limit??
I still get e-mail’s to this day saying “J TUCK WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE RADIO STATION” and my HONEST REPLY IS I HAVE NO CLUE!! AT ALL! All I know was I was doing my show one night and I received a call that said turn in your keys we have been bought out by a new company and we appreciate everything you did for us?? I was like damn I don’t get no farewell show like the Cosby’s or at least a gift bag! FUCK!! Lol! So there were rumors going around about I quit or I was fired! For real FIRED? TAH! It was more liked the game was just over?? I guess? I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity I had, do I miss it YEAH sometimes when I listen to other radio stations (on a rare occasion) I’m like damn I HAD NO RADIO EXPERIENCE AT ALL and WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF OPPORTUNITY! I WAS BETTER THAN THEM! AINT THAT CRAZY! What people failed to know is when you would turn on my show and hear the 10 CRACK COMMANDMENTS or even SOULJA BOY AT THAT TIME! I was going against the boss’s orders and playing what I felt the people wanted to hear?? And plus at a certain point I felt they couldn’t fire me I WAS FRANCHISE! LOL! And even if they did you could still find me djayin at your local clubs! Because I didn’t just become satisfied with just being on KISS I sat myself up for other opportunities which is the one piece of advice MICO did give me that I actually did listen to! Lol! So as a wise man once said ALL GREAT THINGS DO EVENTUALLY COME TO AN END! I JUST THINK KISS 103.1 WAS A LITTLE PREMATURE! YESSIR!!
